Catesby Print - Black Squirrel

“Black Squirrel” etching, framed in hand-gilded gold leaf frame. Measures 15 5/8” wide and 22 1/8” high.

The condition is very good but there is some foxing. It exhibits the vertical lines in laid paper which is an indicator that it is an original. The squirrel is depicted with the yellow ladies slipper plant, calceolus marianus glaber. The lady slipper is native to Carolina, Virginia and Pennsylvania. Gift.
