“Ground Squirrel” etching, framed in hand-gilded gold leaf frame. The ground squirrel is depicted with a mastick tree, cornus foliis laurinis. The squirrel is eating a wild nutmeg. The ground squirrel is native to Virginia and Carolina.
Measures 15 5/8” wide and 22 1/8 ” high. Very good condition but some foxing. It exhibits the vertical lines in laid paper which is an indicator that it is an original.
