Historically Used to Treat: Internal bleeding, external wounds and sores, urinary tract infections, kidney problems and stones, stings (especially of scorpions), and plague
Other Uses: Mostly ornamental, leaves may have been used as ancient lamp or candle wicks (“lychnis” means “lamp”), woven into garlands for athletic champions (hence “coronaria”/crown, “campion”/champion)
